The purpose of this post is to create understanding and cultivate compassion for things that make you go, “What Are You Thinking”. If you want to understand the reasons behind this post you can refer to the original article located on the link below.
In an article written today by Rich Cimini and Adam Schefter they explain that the starting quarterback for the New York Jets was punched in the face because he owed his teammate $600 dollars. The attacker was subsequently kicked off the team. This situation seems utterly ridiculous. Why would a player punch the starting quarterback especially when they are fighting for a spot on the team? Why risk your career and income over $600?
What thoughts could have caused this player to punch his teammate?
- Don’t disrespect me.
- You think I’m going to take your crap because your the quarterback.
- I’m no push over.
- I’m going to teach him a lesson.
- I’m going to make him pay me.
- You know that when we’re off the field I can hit you.
What thoughts could help someone feel and act differently with this situation?
- When I’m playing defense I’m going to make you look bad.
- Never going to let you borrow money again.
- I’m going to slash your tires.
- I’m going to put icy hot in your jock strap.
- Never going to hang out with that guy.
- What’s $600 dollars when I can make millions by making the team.
If you have any suggestions of other thoughts that could cause someone to get angry or help change the situation, please leave a comment.
