100 Days Smarter
—
I’m sorry about the picture but the crown that my daughter is wearing announces that she is 100 days smarter. She brought this home from school a couple of months ago happy and proud of her accomplishment. Having my first born in the educational system has been quite a learning experience for my wife and I. In the beginning I was a little concerned about her being bullied because she is a softy. However, it didn’t take long for me to receive positive news from her teacher praising her social ability. Instead of being pushed around she seemed to be flourishing and helping others cope with the move from preschool to kindergarten.
In addition to her social growth she has also shown improvement in her reading skills. When she started last September she wasn’t able to read a book but now she can read age appropriate literature. The reason for her improvement can be characterized in one word, “passion”. She has a passion for learning and this gives her the focus she needs to improve her academic skills. She is so passionate about learning that she can really wear you out with all the books she wants to read in a given night.
With her kindergarten experience coming to an end I can’t help but feel excited about the possibilities she has in the future as she grows intellectually and socially. I hope to live long enough to see all her achievements as she moves toward fulfilling her potential.
